Monda Birkholz, Elementary Principal 1956-1964

Monda Birkholz, daughter of F.T. and Emma (Klingsporn) Birkholz was born in 1898.  She was one of the first two kindergarten teachers in the Rochester school system (1920-21).  Monda also taught in Coleraine MN and Keewatin MN.

In 1944 she returned to Pine Island and became school librarian.  In 1956 Miss Birkholz was named Pine Island Elementary School Principal and served in that capacity until retiring in 1964. 

Monda was also a private piano teacher and served as organist and choir director at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years.

Monda Birkholz died April 11, 1974.
