When the Historical Society purchased the Collins-Glamm house in August of 2005, the talk of installing a handicap ramp began. Due to the regulations required, a lot of discussion has taken place as to how and where to build it.
At a recent meeting a motion was made to install a lift to make the History Center more accessible to all.
In the past, we have received two $500 grants from the Goodhue County Coop Electric Association which were designated to be used for handicap access to the History Center. Because this is an expensive project to complete, we are starting a “Full Access Project” Fund Drive with the Electric Company’s $1,000 and asking for other donations to be given specifically for a lift. Checks may be sent to:
Pine Island Area Historical Society
Please designate “Full Access Project”.
We thank you in advance for your generosity in helping to make access to the first floor of the History Center a reality for all.
