Attention: Pine Island Alumni

Written by Bill Frame Jr.

The Pine Island Area Historical Society is proud to announce the next installment in their series;  The History of Pine Island Sports.

On Saturday, April 16th. 2016, Pine Island High School Girls and Boys Track & Field program will be hosting a very special event. The Panthers will be hosting a track meet at home for the first time in 17 years at their brand new Track & Field facility located at the new elementary school. The event will begin at 11:00 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Then the new track will be hosting any and all Pine Island Alumni in an open track meet integrated with this year’s track teams. It is a celebration of Pine Island’s long and rich Track & Field tradition.

Following the Meet, a social time is planned in the cafeteria of the new school. At 4:00PM the PIAHS will be sponsoring a program that will cover the history of both the girls and boys track programs here. There will be displays and mementos to see and perhaps some stories shared.  The current coaching staff will be the presenters. If you have anything to share or have some input, please contact Bill Frame (Jr. ) class of ’76, as we would love to have as much as possible to relate to in the talk.

The public is welcome to watch the track meet, attend the social and enjoy the history presentation. There is no charge to attend any of the festivities. More information will be available on the “Pine Island NEW Track” FaceBook page.
